Addison Trail & Florida Trail Association Trail The Great Outdoors – Titusville, Florida April 17, 2020

Today Anna and I started our morning by BIKING through our large neighborhood, THE GREAT OUTDOORS in TITUSVILLE, FLORIDA. After biking, we made a last minute decision to HIKE the remote ADDISON TRAIL located on the northwestern side of The Great Outdoors property. We proceeded from there onto a portion of the adjoining “FLORIDA TRAIL ASSOCIATION” TRAIL, owned by the St. Johns Water Management District. The Addison Trail is beautiful, traversing westward along the peaceful ADDISON CANAL built in 1912 & 1913, and lined by live oak trees, red cedar trees, and sabal palms, with impressive and expansive marsh lands fanning out in every direction. Beautiful trail and great day with my sweetheart!!!!!

Cypress Creek Preserve – Land O’ Lakes, Florida (Boondocking, Biking, Relaxing) Post #1 March 8 – 11, 2020

After an absolutely wonderful time in the north Clearwater area visiting a few FAMILY MEMBERS, our son, Tim Beacham, and cousins, Steve and Jan Harris, as well as FRIENDS, Drew and Carina Valk, we have moved farther north of Tampa to the LAND O’ LAKES, FLORIDA area. We are “BOONDOCKING” (free, dry camping) on the 7,400 acre Southwest Florida Water Management Division land within the beautiful CYPRESS CREEK PRESERVE. The camping area is extremely quiet and spacious, with the perimeter forest filled with tall, gorgeous ponderosa pine trees and palmettos palms. The only sounds we hear are the chirps of small birds. The three other RV’s camping in our area are almost invisible from our site, making it tremendously peaceful. Frankly, it is one of the BEST “BOONDOCKING” LOCATIONS we have stayed at across the country over this last year of traveling. Yesterday we took a 5-PLUS MILE BIKE RIDE through the preserve. Honestly, it was a fairly difficult ride through bumpy, sand filled paths, but the scenery was gorgeous as we took in the swampy areas of the park filled with gorgeous cyress trees and water fowl. GREAT PLACE, now time to relax!!!!

John Chestnut Sr. Park – East Lake, Florida (Lake Tarpon, Pinellas County Park) March 5, 2020

Today we found an absolute gem, the JOHN CHESTNUT SR. PARK located in EAST LAKE, FLORIDA. It is a very peaceful and stunningly beautiful PINELLAS COUNTY PARK located on the southeast section of LAKE TARPON. We were thoroughly impressed with every aspect of the park as we biked and hiked the various sections of this natural, “Old Florida” gem. The park for the most part is a watershed, which is a land area from which water drains or “sheds” into a particular body of water, which is in this case Lake Tarpon. The shoreline is lined by impressive, large CYPRESS TREES, sabal palms, and other water tolerant plants. Throughout various sections of the park they have built impressive, EVER WATER WALKWAYS, bridges and an observation tower overlooking Lake Tarpon and the watershed. We witnessed a plethora of water fowl, especially OSPREY, in addition to many water animals including ALLIGATORS and turtles.  Immediately adjacent to the lake and watershed is the land portion of this wonderful park. It is beautifully blanketed in an impressive dome of tall LIVE OAK TREES. What a great day. We would highly recommend this place to anyone!!!
