Winslow, Arizona April 30, 2019

The legendary band, THE EAGLES, brought fame to the small, rural town of WINSLOW, ARIZONA with their hit song TAKIN’ IT EASY, which included the defining phrase “Standin’ on a corner in Winslow, Arizona, such a fine sight to see…” Thank you Don Henley and Glenn Frey!!!! On our way to tour and experience the glorious PETRIFIED FOREST NATIONAL PARK, Anna and I were passing by the town of Winslow and HAD TO STOP in to view the main area of town. Winslow, founded in 1880, is located at 4,850 elevation, one hour east of Flagstaff off of Interstate 40. Some of the remains of the old HISTORIC ROUTE 66 runs right through the center of town, which used to be a major trade and travel route extending from Chicago, Illinois to Las Angeles, California. This quaint working town really took advantage of the fame the song brought their way, with signs and statues commemorating the band and song mentioning their beloved town. We enjoyed our short visit to Winslow, which surely turned out to be our unexpected “Gem of the day”.
